Payment Options

You can purchase items from Microsoft Store using any of the following card types:

  • Visa

  • MasterCard

  • American Express

  • Discover

Note: To purchase from the Microsoft Store in the United States, your credit card must have a U.S. billing address.

Pricing

Pricing at Microsoft Store is based on sales of software licenses and hardware to individual consumers. If you are purchasing for a commercial, educational, or government organization, please see the Microsoft Volume Licensing site. If you are purchasing for a non-profit organization or want to know more about Microsoft's donation programs, please see the Community Engagement & Investment site.

Note: Except for the Pre-Order Price Guarantee, Microsoft Store does not have a price match guarantee and will not match the advertised prices of other retailers for the same items.

Pre-Order Price Guarantee

The advertised price for pre-order items may increase or decrease prior to their release date, but you will only be charged the lowest price offered between the time you place your pre-order, and the time we either make the pre-order item available to you for download, or ship the pre-order item to you. (Your credit card will not be charged until we either make the item available to you for download, or until we ship the item to you.)

You can order with confidence that you will not be overcharged.

Exclusions: Pre-Order Price Guarantee only applies to pre-order items and prices offered on the Microsoft Store, and does not apply to items and prices advertised by other sellers, prices inclusive of taxes, shipping charges, or typographical errors.

Shipping and Tax

Shipping prices and tax depend on where the item is to be delivered. There is no shipping charge for software downloads, of course, but there may be tax, depending on state and federal tax laws. The final price of a purchase, including shipping and tax, is calculated for the order before you actually make your purchase.

Note: Microsoft Store handles tax-exempt sales with the following process: 1) you purchase normally and are billed for tax, 2) you submit your proof of tax-exempt status, and 3) we will refund your credit card for the tax on your order. Please contact us to learn more.
